Fred Perry celebrates a centenary existence since British tennis legend Frederick John Perry was born in 1909. Amnesty Singapore will throw a huge party on 5 November 2009, at the Red Dot Design Museum. Electronic shoegazer band Kyte from Leichestershire, England, will be playing live for the first time in Singapore for this event, which promises to be a huge showcase of what the Fred Perry label stands for: fashion, music and the British indie subculture.
The centennial celebration will also showcase looks from the Fred Perry Autumn/Winter ‘09 and the Limited Edition 100 Year collection. This includes the 100 Year Outfit by designer Raf Simons, currently creative director of Jil Sander and has his eponymous line of designer menswear, who has created a modern interpretation of a classic Fred Perry outfit worn by the tennis great in 1947.
The event will also feature the Fred Perry Singapore Tattoo Artists’ Collection; a series of limited edition polo shirts designed by four prominent local tattoo artists, Ael (Imagine Tattoo), Deon (Revolution Tattoo), Elson (Think Tattoo) and Joseph (Visual Orgasm). The designs will be available for sale during the event. Only 10 pieces per design will be made available in the world.
